Here are some steps to follow:

1. Call the other driver’s insurance company claims’ telephone number on the insurance card that you obtained from them. We have provided some insurance companies claims’ telephone numbers for your convenience.
          a. Make sure they give you the Claim Number and Adjuster name and telephone number.
          b. They will inform you of the time the adjuster will call you.
          c. When the adjuster calls you then they will obtain information like the following:
                    i. Your Name, Address and telephone number.
                    ii. Date of birth and Social Security Number
                    iii. Facts of the accident and injuries status
                    iv. Then they will answer your questions.
2. Call your insurance company and report the claim and see what the coverage that you have, this is important because this will help reduce the stress in your life. When your insurance company calls you be prepared to ask more questions than other drivers company.
                    i. Name, Address and telephone number.
                    ii. Date of birth and Social Security Number
                    iii. Facts of the accident and injuries Status.
                    iv. Then they will answer your questions.
          a. See if you have collision coverage and the deductible amount: this will help if the other insurance company is delaying paying for your car damage.
          b. See if you have Car Rental Coverage: this will help you to get to doctor for medical care and continue your life. Again if the other carrier is delaying accepting liability for the accident.
          c. See if you have Medical Coverage: this will pay for the medical bills that you incurred from the accident and related to the accident. This will allow you to see the medical provider of your choice.
                    i. In some states you do not have to pay back this coverage and therefore it only increases your injury settlement.
          d. See if you have Underinsured/Uninsured Coverage: this will provide coverage if the other driver does not have a valid insurance policy or not enough insurance to pay you for the injuries that you may have incurred.
3. Keep copies of all information that you give the insurance companies for your file.
